That's identical to the +2 prof/d6 damage of a club, so really another way to look at the ape's "Arms Like Clubs" trait is that it means they have built in spiked gauntlets. ;) That said, if we were talking ENCHANTED gauntlets of nearly any type, in my game at least I'd allow that to combo in with the ape's natural unarmed ability.
